Ok, so as an internet marketing professional, I do promote and sell products online–that’s how I make my living and provide my family with essential stuff like the new Sonic Adventure 2 video game for my 7 year old and the various things my wife must have at Target. Could somebody explain to me what Target’s secret do to get my wife to spend a minimum of $100 per visit when she just goes to get one small gift for a kids birthday? Masterful psychological sales going on there.

Anyway, the online marketing video above is simple and effective in selling a product. Too many marketers get hung up in creating fancy, broadcast quality video to engage with customers online. The reality is that most consumers see right through that and relate much better to the “home grown” style of video marketing offered by non-professional producers using non-professional talent–which I qualify for on both accounts.

I recently conducted a survey on LinkedIn where I asked professional marketers who use online video to promote products if they use only broadcast quality video or amateur quality video. The overwhelming majority use the hi-end stuff. In my opinion, and based on real results, I would say to try the home grown approach for a change–you’ll be amazed with the sales results.

By the way, if you are looking for an awesome sunless tanning product, check out www.solerra.com for their new self tanning mitt.
